Three Events – One Goal

Under the motto “Three Events, One Goal”, FDM-SH offered researchers, university members, staff from research institutions, and interested members of the public the opportunity to exchange ideas on current developments, challenges, and opportunities in the field of research data management.

The programme featured a wide range of formats – from practice-oriented workshops and expert lectures to open discussion sessions. The aim was to raise awareness for the professional handling of research data, to offer hands-on support, and to foster interdisciplinary dialogue.

Stronger Together

The event series opened on Tuesday with the workshop “Gemeinsam stark – Strategien zur Drittmittelakquise im Forschungsdatenmanagement” (Stronger Together – Strategies for Acquiring Third-Party Funding in Research Data Management), held in cooperation with Dr Jan Rohden from the German Research Foundation (DFG). The focus was on relevant funding programmes and schemes that increasingly emphasise the importance of RDM and cross-institutional initiatives. The session sparked lively discussions and generated numerous funding proposal ideas within the FDM-SH community.

More Than Just Data

On Tuesday evening, Dr Jan Rohden also delivered a hybrid expert lecture entitled “Mehr als nur Daten – FDM in der Forschungsförderung” (More Than Just Data – RDM in Research Funding). He provided deeper insights into the strategic relevance of sustainable research data management for departments, research groups, and funding bodies, and impressed the audience with well-founded answers to the many questions posed.

FDM-SH meets Culture

The programme concluded on Wednesday morning with the event “FDM-SH meets Culture”, organised in cooperation with the Schleswig-Holstein State Library and digiCULT. It attracted considerable interest, particularly from representatives of regional cultural institutions. Following introductory lightning talks on research data in cultural organisations, an open exchange with various stakeholders and an engaged plenary discussion created an ideal setting for networking and fresh inspiration.

With this successful launch of its Reach-Out Phase, FDM-SH underscores the importance of research data management across disciplinary and institutional boundaries. The presentation slides from all event formats are available via our Zenodo community.
