Train-the-Trainer Workshops on RDM 2026

Published on: April 13, 2026

In February and March 2026, two English-language Train-the-Trainer workshops on research data management were conducted as a collaborative initiative by trainers from Northern Germany (Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, and Schleswig-Holstein).

The workshops focused on testing established concepts and approaches, developing new ideas, and strengthening participants’ competencies to design effective training sessions on research data management – not only in terms of content, but also with regard to interactive teaching methods.

The aim was not primarily to teach the basics of RDM, but rather to emphasize how these topics can be effectively conveyed using appropriate teaching methods. From the perspective of the facilitators, this approach worked well, and extensive reflection and discussion sessions enabled participants to exchange experiences and ideas on teaching practices.

In the coming months and quarters, further Train-the-Trainer workshops on research data management (RDM) are planned for the northern German federal states (in German and English). We will provide updates via our usual channels. If you are interested in participating in a Train-the-Trainer workshop, please contact the AG Competence Development or the FDM.SH office (info@fdm-sh.de).

Finally, we would like to thank all participants, facilitators, and multipliers who contributed to the workshop and supported its dissemination.
