The interest group addresses how DMPs can be effectively supported, developed, and implemented at research institutions across Schleswig-Holstein. A central focus lies on exchange between institutions regarding practical requirements, institutional conditions, and potential technical solutions.

In many cases, no established DMP tool is currently in place, while there remains a clear need for guidance and clarification. This extends beyond the selection of suitable tools to the broader question of how DMPs can be designed to meet the specific needs of individual institutions and provide meaningful support to researchers in their day-to-day project work.

A key area of discussion is the balance between centralised and decentralised approaches. This includes consideration of whether, and to what extent, shared technical solutions should be provided, how analogue or alternative approaches to creating DMPs can be incorporated, and how these can be linked to overarching frameworks such as the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI).

The group also considers how DMPs may be used beyond the initial project phase, particularly as working documents that can accompany research projects throughout their lifecycle.

For its ongoing work, the group particularly values perspectives from infrastructure providers, research practice, and funding bodies.
